With memories of the wild and remote beauty of her native Northumberland she is constantly drawn to the solitude of unpopulated countryside and coastlines. Now living in the South this inspiration comes from the Surrey heathlands and her travels around the South West Country, the Welsh Borders and Norfolk. Storms, mists, rain, the changing light of the seasons and enveloping snow and ice create extraordinary effects on the natural world. These effects heavily influence the colours and textures that are predominant in her paintings of fields and lanes, forests and mountains, moorland, heaths and unsettling seas.
